Tracie Hotchner created the New York Dog Film Festival to celebrate the remarkable bond between people and dogs. In 2016-17 Tracie is personally bringing the Inaugural 2015 Festival experience to 12 communities nationwide with the generous support of Petco Foundation. The programs are two completely different medleys of short films – a combination of narrative, animated and documentary films from around the world – each illuminating ways that dogs and people touch each others’ lives.
Petco Foundation is the national Grand Sponsor of the Dog Film Festival, which shares the Foundation’s belief that “Love changes everything,” and supports their mission to save animals’ lives by encouraging adoption. Petco Foundation’s Think Adoption First program has partnered with Petco stores and animal welfare organizations across the country to increase pet adoptions. Since 1999 they have helped more than 4.5 million pets find their new loving families, often through some of the groups that are Festival beneficiaries.
Animal welfare groups across the country work hard every day to save and improve animals’ lives, bringing them together with people who will love them. The Festival is traveling to destinations where the community can come together to share the experience of the films and applaud and support an exemplary animal welfare organization. Festival beneficiaries receive 50% of the ticket sales along with the opportunity for more people to learn about their work and meet adoptable animals waiting for loving homes.
